Scheithauer, Geraldine “Gerri” (Welter) (19 AUG 1934 - 20 MAY 2019)

Geraldine “Gerri” Scheithauer, 84, of Medford, Wisconsin passed away on May 20, 2019 in her home, surrounded by her loved ones.

Gerri was born in Chicago, Illinois on August 19, 1934 to Gerhardt and Genevieve (Pasturczak) Welter and moved with her parents and younger brother, Donald to the Rib Lake area in her early teens. Gerri graduated from Rib Lake High School in May of 1952.

She had just enough graduation money to get to Chicago, where she worked through the summer to earn money for passage to California to marry her high school sweetheart, Kenneth Scheithauer, stationed at Twentynine Palms, California. Ken and Gerri were married on September 5, 1952 at Oceanside, California and settled in the Medford area after Ken’s tour with the U.S. Marine Corps was complete.

Gerri is survived by her husband of 66 years, Ken Scheithauer and five children, Gary (Sandy), Jayne (Linda), Mary (Pat), Amy (Matt) and Jon (Jill). She is also survived by six grandchildren, Erin, Josh, Nathan, Nicole, Joe and Cameron. Gerri also had six great-grandchildren at the time of her passing, Kiernan, Kai, Eden, Luka, Caellum and Grayson. Gerri is also survived by her brother, Donald.

In addition to her parents Gerri is preceded in death by a son, Mark.

Gerri started a more than 43 year career in accounting with Robert Klinner, later Hawkins, Ash Baptie, in October of 1961. She started bookkeeping with the Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church in Whittlesey in 1967, and continued until the time of her passing. Gerri was a very devoted parishioner and found much joy being involved with her church.

Gerri was an avid sports fan, following the Milwaukee Brewers, Green Bay Packers, Milwaukee Bucks and Wisconsin Badgers. Gerri loved going to ball games at Interwald with her family, and enjoyed nothing more than watching her children and grandchildren participate in all of their activities. Gerri bowled in the women’s league for many years, and took great pleasure in road trips with her closest friends.

A Funeral Mass for Geraldine will take place at 11:00 AM on Thursday, May 23, 2019 Our Lady of Perpetual Help, W5409 Whittlesey Avenue, Medford, with Father Phil Juza officiating. Burial will follow at Lakeview Cemetery in Rib Lake. Visitation will take place at OLPH on Thursday, May 23, 2019 from 9:00 AM until the time of service at 11:00 AM.
