Roth, Helen (27 MAR 1858 - 8 DEC 1916)

Mrs. Fred Roth died Dec. 8th, 1916, at the home of her son, W.F., in Riplinger (Clark Co., Wis.), of cancer of the breast, aged 58 years, 8 months and 11 days.

Helen Grambort was born in the town of Herman, Sheboygan Co., Wis., March 27, 1858; came with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Fred Grambort, Sr., to Clark County about 40 years ago, and settled on a farm in the town of Green Grove; was married to Fred Roth May 29, 1880, and with the exception of a short time they lived at Stratford, this city was their home until three years ago, when they removed to Medford. It was shortly after moving to Medford that she contracted the malady which cause her death. About two years ago she underwent an operation at Chicago, but to no avail. Four children were born to them, W.F. of Riplinger; Edward, deceased; Mrs. Paul Holmes and Mrs. Myron P. Graham of Chicago.

Mrs. Roth was one of God’s most patient children. To her the struggle and burden bearing of earth are ended, and we confidently trust that like one who awakes froma troubled dream, she has awakened to see life’s endless morning break and knows herself at home with all the vast throng of loved ones, missed from earth, safe about her. Her home instincts were strong here in this fevered world of disappointment. Among us all she ranked as a kind neighbor, a devoted mother, and a true friend, and withal a woman of heroic mould in bravely meeting the stern requirements and often the disappointments of life.

Those who survive her, besides the children already mentioned are: her husband, four sisters, Mrs. Aug. Lulloff of this city; Mrs. Gust Bahn of Abbotsford; Mrs. Geo. Preussner and Mrs. Ed Preussner, both of Chicago; and one brother, Fred Grambort of this city, all of whom were here to attend the funeral.

The funeral, which was largely attended by relatives, old neighbors and friends, was held from St. John’s Evangelical Church, Monday afternoon at 3 o’clock, Rev. A. Peper officiating. She was laid to rest in Colby Cemetery.
