Steffen, William E. Sr. (March18, 1904 - May 2, 1979)

William E Steffen, age 75, of 2620 Eaton Lane, Racine, passed away Wednesday morning, May 2, 1979, at St. Mary’s Medical Center.

Mr. Steffen was born in Antigo, Wis. on March 18, 1904, and had been a resident of Racine since 1943. On August 6, 1928 in Kaukauna, Wis., he was married to Myrtle Mooney. Prior to his retirement in 1966, Mr. Steffen had been employed as a Punch Press Operator at Greene Manufacturing Co. for 14 years.

He is survived by his wife, Myrtle; one son and daughter-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. William (Geraldine) Steffen, Jr. of Racine; three daughters and sons-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Joseph (Betty) Buscemi of Racine, Mr. and Mrs. Arthur (Myrtle) Fleuter of Racine and Mrs. Bonnie Hodges of Chicago; 18 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren; one sister and brother-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Gerald (Eleanor) Smits of Kaukauna, Wis.; one brother, Mr. Edward Steffen of Montana; one brother-in-law, Mr. Robert Dwyer of Kaukauna; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by one sister.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, May 4, at 2:00 p.m. at the Strouf-Sheffield Funeral Home with the Rev. Kenneth Carlson officiating. Interment will be at West Lawn Memorial Park. Relatives and friends may meet with the family this (Thursday) evening from 5:00 until 9:00 p.m. at the Strouf-Sheffield Funeral Home, 1001 High St.

(Note: A relative states that his parents, according to the 1920 census, were William and Alice Steffen)
