Mary E. O’Donnell, 79, Marshfield, died on Saturday, July 22, 2006, at St. Joseph’s Palliative Care, Marshfield, where she had been admitted earlier in the day. A Mass of Christian Burial was held on Wednesday, July 26, at 10:30 a.m., at Our Lady of Peace Catholic Church, Marshfield. The Rev. Donald l. Meuret officiated, and Suzanne Golden was the organist for Michael Gonering, soloist. Burial took place in Gate of Heaven Cemetery and her sons and a son-in-law served as pallbearers.

Mary E. McKenna was born on March 18, 1927, in the town of Eaton to William and Annabelle (nee Moorehead) McKenna. She attended St. Mary’s Parochial School, Greenwood, and was a 1945 graduate of Greenwood High School. She also attended beauty school in Eau Claire. She then worked in a beauty shop in Neillsville and later owned and operated her own beauty shop in Marshfield, known as Swirl and Curl Beauty Shop. She married Douglas T. O’Donnell on Aug. 22, 1951, at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church, Loyal. She was a member of Our Lady of Peace Catholic Church, Marshfield, the Parish Council of Catholic Women, the American Legion Auxiliary, 40 et 8, and the Lady Knights.

Survivors include her husband, Doug; eight children, Patrick O’Donnell, Marshfield, Colleen O’Donnell, Minocqua, Sharon O’Donnell, Marshfield, Lisa (Elroy) Rogers, Marshall, Minn., Michael (Connie) O’Donnell, Prattville, Ala., Daniel O’Donnell, Marshfield, Kevin O’Donnell, Palatine, Ill., and Shawn (Stacy) O’Donnell, Chili; four grandchildren, Andrea and Emily Rogers, and Elizabeth and Douglas M. O’Donnell; a sister, Agnes (Marvin) Hardinger, Marshfield; three nieces and three nephews.

Preceding her in death were her parents; three brothers, David, William Jr. and Michael McKenna; three siblings in infancy, Robert, George, and Ann McKenna; and a sister, Rita McKenna, at the age of three.

The family will designate a memorial in her name at a later date.

Rembs/Kundinger Funeral Home assisted the family with arrangements.
