Salter, Pearl D. (18 OCT 1886 - 10 AUG 1950)

Miss Pearl D. Salter, 63, passed away on Thursday, Aug. 10, at 8:30 p.m. at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Marshfield. Death followed a lingering illness.

She was born in Colby, Wis. on Oct. 18, 1886, and at an early age came with her parents, the late Mr. and Mrs. F.J. Salter, to Prentice, where she has since been a resident.

In her lifetime of service, Miss Salter followed the profession of an educator, spending approximately 35 years as a grade school teacher and 12 years as superintendent of the Prince County school. She also served as supervising teacher of the county normal. She was a member of the Rebekah Lodge and of the Prentice Women’s Club. She was an active and faithful member of the Congregation Church. By her friendliness and constant cheerfulness, Miss Salter established a memorial for herself in the memories of all who knew her.

Funeral services were held on Monday, Aug. 14, at 2 p.m. from the Congregational church, the Rev. Stark officiating. Burial was made in the Prentice Cemetery. Pallbearers were Melvin Gwin, Ladysmith, Joseph Voldrich, R.W. Hitchcock, Wm. Anderson, Lyle Schloskey and Ken Kruizenga.

Immediate survivors are her two sisters, Hazel Purdy, Hollywood, Calif., and Gladys Salter, Prentice, her brother and niece, Russell Salter and small daughter, Patricia, La Paz, Bolivia, S.A.

Out of town relatives present at the services were Mr. and Mrs. Ward Baber, Mrs. Wm. Wilson and son, Wausau; Mr. and Mrs. Roland Barber, Butternut; Mr. and Mrs. David Peterson, Fifield; Harry Peterson, Prof. McMiller, Minneapolis; Helen Harris, St. Paul, Minn.; Mr. and Mrs. Ted Salter, daughters Betty and Sally, Mr. and Mrs. Earl Salter, Mr. and Mrs. Stuart Salter, Unity; Mr. and Mrs. Art Salter and Son, Wayne, Mrs. Marian Tschudy, Marshfield; Mr. and Mrs. Milo Salter, West Bend.
