Buddenhagen, William (4 Dec. 1858 - 21 Sept. 1938)

William Buddenhagen, father of Elmer Buddenhagen of the town of Levis, passed away last Wednesday night during his sleep at his home at 108 Hamilton Place, Fond du Lac, his death being discovered by Mrs. Buddenhagen at 7 o’clock Thursday morning when she went to call him.

Mr. Buddenhagen was born at Kewaskum December 4, 1858, and was married May 20, 1882, to Miss Mathilda Bunkelman in Seymour. After their marriage, they resided in Kewaskum, Seymour, Fond du Lac and Neillsville, returning to Fond du Lac 19 years ago where Mr. Buddenhagen worked for the Fountain City Dairy Company for nine years. Suffering with heart trouble, he resigned his position with the dairy company about a year ago.

During his stay in Neillsville, Mr. Buddenhagen operated a farm northeast of the city. He was a good farmer, thrifty and strictly hones, in every way, and it was with deep regret that his old neighbors and friends here heard of his passing.

He is survived by his widow, three sons, Elmer of Levis Township and Louis and Raymond of Fond du Lac and four grandchildren. He was the last of a family of seven children, five boys and two girls.

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Saturday from the Candlish Chapel, Fond du Lac, Rev. H. S. Wise, pastor of Division Street M. E. church officiating. Burial was made at Kewaskum. Mr. Buddenhagen was a member of Division Street M. E. Church.

Those who attended the funeral from this city are Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Buddenhagen and son, Leland, and Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Bunkleman and son, Ralph.
