Jelinek, Joyce Ann (July 8, 1939 - August 5, 2006)

Joyce Jelinek, age 67, of Neillsville, formerly of Milwaukee, died Saturday, August 5, 2006, at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Marshfield.

Joyce Ann Jelinek was born on July 8, 1939 the daughter of Robert and Grace (Miller) Voves in Milwaukee. She attended the Immaculate Conception Grade School and graduated from Bayview High School in Milwaukee. She was united in marriage to Tom Jelinek on February 22, 1958 in Illinois. After raising their family, Joyce went to work for the Harnischfeger Co., a crane manufacturing company in Milwaukee. She worked there for 25 years before retiring in March of 1995. She and Tom have had a summer home in Neillsville since 1968. They moved here permanently in May of 1995.

Joyce was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Neillsville, Wis. Currently she was vice-president of the Memorial Medical Center Partners/Gift Shop. She was Gift Shop volunteer and she also worked in the Hospital Gift Shop. She was instrumental in organizing the Memorial Medical Center Partner’s Scholarship program, and served on the committee. She was a member of the Memorial Medical Center Auxiliary Ladies and she organized the yearly brat feed for the Clark County Humane Society.

She loved fishing and deer hunting, taking nine deer in nine years with nine shots.

She is survived by her husband, Tom, of Neillsville; her children, James (Debbie) Jelinek, of Burlington, WI; and Julie (Ron) Ertman, of South Milwaukee; five grandchildren, Nicole, Shawn, Ryan, Chloe and Nick.

Joyce was preceded in death by a son, John in 1993; her parents; and one sister, Beverly in 2005.

A Memorial Mass will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, August 12, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Neillsville, Wis. The Celebrant will be Fr. Woodrow H. Pace. Music will be provided by Ronald Resong, organist and St. Mary’s Choir. Visitation will be from 11 a.m.-12:45 p.m., at the Gesche Funeral Home in Neillsville, Wis.

Honorary Casket Bearers are: John Freudigmann, Bob Sibilski, Bob Steuber, Walter Kunde and Tom LaPinski.

The Gesche Funeral Home is assisting Joyce’s Family with funeral arrangements.
