Granton

Albert Mabie, mail carrier on rural route number one, expressed his opinion that in the nearly 34 years of his experience carrying mail over his route, he had never seen roads go to pieces so quickly as they did this year. Friday was not a day to his liking for travel for he found it necessary to be pulled out of the mud 16 times -- 11 times on one mile of road.

Mr. and Mrs. Johamkmecht and children of Waupaca visited here for several days with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Gib Bender, and other relatives.

Mr. and Mrs. Frank Storm and daughter of Chili visited Sunday with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. William Storm.

Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Wilding of Neillsville spent Sunday with Mr. and Mrs. Lee Gower.

Little Roger Laesch entertained several of his young friends at a birthday party Sunday afternoon.

Frank Sweet and his mother, Mrs. Hattie Hayden, are now living in rooms in back of the local post office.

Miss Jeanne Preston of Milwaukee spent Saturday and Sunday here with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Frank Preston.

Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd Spry and family were dinner guests of Mr. and Mrs. W. W. Smith Sunday. The Smiths expect to move back to their farm in the town of Fremont in the near future.

Mr. and Mrs. Dan Rausch spent Thursday in Marshfield.

Wilbur Billman and Arthur Eibergen drove to Madison Sunday ***
