Putman, Amanda P. (2 DEC 1854 - 26 FEB 1929)

Amanda Paulina Nokes, youngest daughter of James and Alma Nokes, was born in Jefferson Co., New York, Dec. 2, 1854, and passed away at Two Rivers, Wis., Feb. 26, 1929, aged 74 years, 2 months and 24 days.

Her parents moved to Palmyra, in this state, where she grew to womanhood, and in 1871 she was united in marriage with John Putman, locating in this vicinity soon after. To this union were born five children: Ernest, Allen, Russell, Emma and Lilah. Her husband and two sons, Allen and Ernest, preceded her in death.

Since the death of her husband, she had made her home with her son on the farm east of Humbird (Clark Co., Wis.), until a year ago when they moved to Two Rivers. She leaves to mourn her death, three children, Russell, Mrs. Peter O’Leary and Mrs. Luzi Schneller, all of Two Rivers; one brother, Wm. Nokes of Winchester, sixteen grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

The remains were brought to this village last Friday. Burial services were held from the Free Methodist Church, of which the deceased had long been a devout member, on Sunday afternoon, Rev. A.E. Knaak officiating, and a large congregation paid the last tribute of respect to a beloved neighbor. Burial was in Mentor Cemetery.

Putman and family, Margaret and Lyman Putman, Janesville; Mr. and Mrs. J. Monroe, Fairchild; Jos. Rickard, Augusta; Mr. and Mrs. J. Trader, Fall Creek; Mrs. J.D. Crandell, Merrillan.
