Meyer, Ernestine W. (14 MAR 1864 - 12 OCT 1929)

Ernestine Wilhelmine Steinke was born March 14, 1864, in Germany. She came to this county in 1888, and was later married to Henry Meyer at Tomah, Wis. They made their home in the town of Knapp, Jackson County, where they resided for 35 years, until her husband’s death on March 6, 1913. She later moved to Alma Center, where she resided until the last three years, which were spent in Janesville, where she passed away of heart failure, Oct. 12, 1929, at the age of 65 years, 6 months and 12 days.

She leaves to mourn her death six children, Emma Lee of Loyal (Clark Co., Wis.), Clara Beltz of Warrens, Augusta Dunlap of Alma Center, Bertha Zerbel of Humbird (Clark Co.), Fred Meyer of Alma Center, Herman Meyer of Withee (Clark Co.), one stepson, Will Meyer; two sisters, Mrs. Paulina Pergande of Tomah, and Mrs. Amelia Birkholz of Janesville; one brother, Emil Steinke of Minneapolis; 19 grandchildren; and a host of friends and relatives.

Funeral services were held at the Grace Lutheran Church at Alma Center Tuesday afternoon, Rev. Munderloh officiating. Interment was in East Lawn Cemetery.

Those from away who attended the funeral were: Mr. and Mrs. Oscar Lee and children of Loyal, Mr. and Mrs. Charles Beltz of Warrens, Mr. and Mrs. Herman Meyer of Loyal, Mrs. Pauline Pergande, Mr. and Mrs. Will Meyer, Mrs. Louis Hedding of Tomah, Mrs. Emelia Birkholz of Janesville, Mr. and Mrs. Herbert Trexler of Warrens.
