Ratsch, Mr./Mrs. Robert (60th - 21 Sept. 2006)

Ratsch’s celebrate 60th Anniversary

Robert Ratsch and Marie Daniels were married on September 21, 1946 at St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church in Neillsville by the Rev. William Baumann. Marie’s brother, Frederick, and Bob’s sister, Luella, were their attendants.

In 1948, they purchased a small dairy farm where they raised their family. To supplement the farm income, Bob drove school bus and worked as night janitor at the Neillsville Public Schools. He then became Head of Maintenance, succeeding Ray Reineck.

As his duties at school increased, he found it necessary to discontinue farming. They sold the farm to their oldest son, Russell, and his wife Judy. They then moved to their present home on Owen Avenue. Bob has retired from his maintenance position but continues to work for the school part time on weekends and as a substitute janitor.

They continue to farm on a small scale, raising dairy heifers, laying hens and milk goats, as Marie isn’t ready to quit milking altogether.

On the day of their 60th anniversary they were treated to a meal at Fannies Supper Club by Russell and Judy and visited at their home afterward. Their other sons, Jim, of Santa Monica, Calif.; Jeff, of Foster, R. I.; and Bob, Jr., of Mather, Calif., near Sacramento, were unable to attend at this time, though Jim visited Neillsville briefly early in October.

Bob and Marie are happy to be the grandparents of 12 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. "The Lord has been gracious in allowing us all these years together," said Marie.
