Goeke, Gerald H. (26 SEP 1924 - 5 OCT 2006)

Gerald H. "Chub" Goeke, 82, Sussex, found peace on Oct. 5, 2006.

Gerald H. Goeke was born on Sept. 26, 1924, in Greenwood, to William and Lydia (nee Decker) Goeke. He grew up on the family farm in the town of Warner, graduating from Greenwood High School in 1942. He married Elda Zachow in 1953. They lived in Milwaukee, where their children were born, then moved to a country home in the town of Lisbon where he lived until his death. He was employed as a skilled machinist at Kerney and Trecker for 36 years, retiring to a more leisurely life at his Merten home. He enjoyed his family, travel, gardening, fixing mechanical things, reading the daily newspaper, and deer hunting with his brother, Harvey, on the "river 80."

He was a loving husband of Elda; caring father of Deborah (Michael) Mahon, and Gerald (Christine) Goeke; stepfather of Carol Jones; proud grandpa of Ann, Jennifer, James, Samantha, and Allison; great-grandpa of Dustin and Marie; and brother of Harvey (Phyllis Goeke. He is further survived by nephews William (Donna) Dusso and James (Beverly) Dusso; and other relatives and friends.

Preceding him in death were his parents; and sister, Alice Dusso.
