Klapatauskas, Charles (June 3, 1930 - May 10, 2005)

Charles Klapatauskas, age 74, Withee, died on Tuesday, May 10, 2005, in the Emergency Room of Saint Joseph’s Hospital in Marshfield.

The Mass of Christian Burial for Charles was held at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, May 13, 2005, at Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Owen, with Father Eric Linzmaier officiating. Burial was in Riverside Cemetery, Withee. Pallbearers were Charlie’s nephews: Andrew Becker, Arlen Klapatauskas, Randy Klapatauskas, Bill Debevec, Greg Klapatauskas, and Sam Vallone. Full Military Rites were conducted by Owen American Legion and Owen-Withee Veteran’s Club. Visitation with family and friends was Thursday, May 12, 2005, at the Maurina Funeral Home in Owen from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. There was a combined rosary service at 7:30 p.m. by Holy Rosary Parish and Marian Council of the Knights of Columbus.

Charles Matthew Klapatauskas was born June 3, 1930, in Clark County, the son of Michael and Katherine Klapatauskas. He was a 1950 graduate of Greenwood High School. Charles affectionately called "Charlie" was united in marriage to Marjorie Moberg on April 23, 1955, at Holy Family Catholic Church in Willard. Charlie served his country with the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He was employed with the former Foremost Foods in Owen for 13 years and later worked maintenance for Owen-Withee High School for 18 years. Charlie; was an "arm chair quarterback" encouraging the Brewers and Packers on to victory. He enjoyed deer hunting and gardening. Charlie was an active member of Holy Rosary Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus, Holy Name Society and the holy Rosary Choir and Polka Band.

Charlie will be dearly missed by his wife of 50 years Marge Klapatauskas of Withee, his mother-in-law Ruth Moberg of Loyal; six children: Dawn (Michael) Luck of North Reading, MA, David Klapatauskas of Oshkosh, Denise (David) Owens of West Allis, Jane (Lance) Kreplick of Wesley Chapel, FL, Janet Klapatauskas of Milwaukee and Judy Klapatauskas of West Bend; six grandchildren: Ryan, Amanda, Kevin, Alexis, Alyssa and Eric; two brothers: Julius Klapatauskas of Thorp and Michael (Lorraine) Klapatauskas of Chicago; four sisters: Katie Gregorich of Greenwood, Mary Fischer of Chicago, Josie Wind of Chicago, Agnes Debevec of Willard and many nieces, nephews and friends.

Charles was preceded in death by his parents, infant daughter Mary Theresa, three sisters: Estelle, Martha and Frances and father-in-law, Elery Moberg.

Maurina/Community Funeral Homes assisted the family with arrangements.
