Wilczek, Rose Katherine (August 2, 1915 - November 3, 2006)

Rose K. Wilczek, age 91, of Thorp, passed away on Friday, November 3, 2006 at Our Lady of Victory Hospital in Stanley.

Funeral services were held on Monday, November 6, 2006 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Bernard-St. Hedwig Catholic Church in Thorp with Rev. Keith Apfelbeck officiating. Burial followed in Old St. Hedwig Catholic Cemetery, also in Thorp. Rose’s grandchildren served as pallbearers.

Visitation was held on Sunday, November 5, 2006 from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Thorp Funeral Home with a 7 p.m. rosary.

Rose Katherine Powszukiewicz was born on August 2, 1915 in rural Thorp, WI to Alex and Stella (Siegienski) Powszukiewicz. She attended area schools and graduated from Thorp High School. Rose was united in marriage to Frank J. Wilczek on August 10, 1938 at St. Hedwig’s Catholic Church in Thorp. While raising their family, Rose and Frank farmed in the area for many years until they retired and moved to the City of Thorp in 1979.

Rose was a member of St. Bernard-St. Hedwig Catholic Church and its PCCW. In her spare time, she enjoyed playing cards, baking, and being with her family.

She is survived by her 12 children: Anton (Shirley) Wilczek of Chippewa Falls, Jerome (Theresa) Wilczek of Marshfield, Theresa (Ken) Salvack of Stantonville, TN, Joseph (Betty) Wilczek of Greenwood, Mary (Melvin) Lauer of Mokena, IL, Francis (Chris) Wilczek of Lublin, Rose Marie (William) Schubert of Aurora, CO, Henry Wilczek of Great Falls, MT, Patrick (Elsie) Wilczek of San Antonio, TX, William Wilczek of Thorp, Virginia (John) Conzemius of Burnsville, MN, and James Wilczek of Stetsonville, WI. She is further survived by twenty-three grandchildren; twenty-three great- grand-children; one brother, Joe Pow of Thorp; one sister, Francine Powers of Los Angeles, CA and one sister-in-law, Sophie Koltis of Thorp and many nieces, nephews, and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Frank in 2001; four brothers: Walter, Adam, Frank, and John and one grandson, Joseph Michael Wilczek.

Thorp Funeral Home assisted the family with arrangements.
