Landgraf, Leroy J. (7 Oct. 1893 - 31 Oct. 1939)

Military funeral services for Leroy J. Landgraf, 46, were held at the Schiller Funeral Home Saturday afternoon. The pallbearers were, firing squad and color guards were members of the Service Company and the American Legion. The Rev. G. W. Longenecker conducted the rites. Interment took place in the Neillsville Cemetery.

Mr. Landgraf was born in Neillsville to Mr. and Mrs. John Landgraf on October 7, 1893. At the age of 18, he joined the militia and served in the World War with the 3rd Infantry, W. N. G., until he was transferred at Waco, Texas, to the headquarters detachment of the 121st Machine Gun Battalion, in which he served as a Wagoner. He was a charter member of the Otto A. Haugen post, Nov. 73. Returning home after the completion of his service he took up his work as a mechanic here.

He was married to Miss Anita Beaver of Granton on January 12, 1929, the couple establishing their home in Neillsville, Wis. His health failed and on October 12, 1938, he was sent to the veteran’s hospital at Wood, Wis., later being transferre4d to the Heins Hospital, at Heins, Ill. He was again returned to Wood, where he remained until his death on October 31. Mrs. Landgraf and his mother were with him at the hospital during the last several weeks.

He is survived by his wife, mother and a sister, Mrs. William Weast, of Greenwood; two nieces, Mrs. Robert Sechler and Mary Weast, and two nephews, Lester and Glen Landgraf. His father and a brother preceded him in death.

The pallbearers were A. E. Russell, Arthur Haugen, Otto Dux, Arthur Carl, Albert Dahnert and Frank Zimmer.

Relatives in attendance at the funeral included: Mr. and Mrs. William Weast and daughter, Mary, of Greenwood; Mr. and Mrs. Robert Sechler of Black River Falls; Mr. and Mrs. George Beaver and Mrs. Rosetta Meyer of Granton; Mr. and Mrs. H. A. Treu of Green Bay; Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Paulus and Mrs. Elsie Waters of Chicago; Mr. and Mrs. F. A. Hubing, Mrs. Walter Englebrecht, Mrs. J. P. Wojciechouski and daughter, Geraldine, Mr. and Mrs. George Hubing and son, George, and Mrs. Emil Hubing, all of Athens; Mr. and Mrs. Joe Wedl, Frank Bauer; Mr. and Mrs. Paul Bauer and daughter, Phyllis; Mr. and Mrs. Rollie Bauer, Mr. and Mrs. Philip Beaver, Mr. and Mrs. Vernon Beaver; Matt Beaver and Joseph Hubing, all of Loyal.
