Bowen, Hildegarde E. (4 JAN 1915 - 14 NOV 2006)

Hildegarde E. "Hilda" Bowen, 91, Curtiss, died at Saint Joseph’s Hospital Palliative Care on Tuesday, Nov. 14, 2006. Funeral services were held on Monday, Nov. 20, at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Curtiss, Wis. The Rev. Kris Bjerke-Ulliman officiated. Burial followed in the Pine Hill Cemetery. Pallbearers were Ron Frohling, Edward Wendt, Carl Jakel, Aaron Sperduto, Jeffrey Bowen and Emil Untiedt Jr. Honorary pallbearers were Dick Lund, Marvin Saari, Hilarian Michlig, Claude Peissig and John Wantlin.

Hildegarde Erma Peissig was born on Jan. 4, 1915, in the town of Hoard, to Herman and Marie (nee Pfohl) Peissig. As a young girl, after the death of her mother, she cared for her siblings. She later was employed with J.C. Penny, Chippewa Falls, in sales. She married Lester James Bowen on Sept. 19, 1949, in Wausau. After marriage, she worked as bookkeeper and secretary for Bowen Enterprises. She was a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Curtiss Liona Club, Boomtown Snow Chasers, and was active in the Curtiss Community Club. She enjoyed deer hunting and was camp cook at their cabin in Glidden.

Survivors include her husband, Les Bowen, Curtiss; stepson, Dennis (Parri) Bowen, Wausau; stepdaughter, Idelle Myre, Owen; seven grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and one brother, Emery "Pete" Peissig, Waunakee.
