Murphy, Frances (9 MAR 1915 - 23 NOV 2006)

Frances Murphy, 91, Marshall, Ill., formerly of Willard, died at Burnside Community Health Center, Marshall, on Thursday, Nov. 23, 2006. Funeral services were held at 11 a.m., on Wednesday, Nov 29, at Cuddie Funeral Home, Greenwood. The Rev. Wendell Williams officiated and burial followed in the Willard Cemetery.

Frances Herrick was born March 9, 1915, in Willard, to Jacob and Anna (nee Pintar) Herrick. She was raise in Willard and received her education at North Mound School. After completing her schooling, she moved to Waukegan, Ill., and work as a nanny and housekeeper. She later moved to Peoria, Ill., and worked in a glove factory and at the Caterpillar factory. She married Dean V. Murphy on Oct. 18, 1947, in Peoria. After their marriage, she was a full time housewife and mother, and she earned her G.E.D. She loved spending time with her family, enjoyed knitting, was an avid reader, and loved education.

She will be sadly missed by her husband, Dean Marshall; two daughters, Sheila Robinson, Martinville, Ill., and Lorre (Al) Chapman, Greenwood, Ind.; one son, Bob (Carolyn) Murphy, Martinville, Ill.; four grandchildren, Aaron Robinson, Todd Hilbert, Scott Murphy, and Beth Murphy; five great-grandchildren; three sisters, Donna Smith, St. Paul, Minn. Joan Noah, Willard, and Lou Hawley, Sun City, Ariz.; and one brother, Edward Herrick, Bossier City, La.

Preceding her in death were her parents; three sisters, Ann Petkovsek, Mary Steward, and Eva Hollowell; and five brothers, Joe Herrick, Jack Herrick, Florian Herrick, Charles Herrick, and Robert Herrick.

Memorial contributions may be made to the libraries of both Greenwood Public Schools, to Loyal United Methodist Church, and/or to Holy Family Catholic Church.

Cuddie Funeral Home, Greenwood, assisted the family with arrangements.
