Wilcox, Bert & Hesper (60th - 24 DEC 1945)

Greenwood (Clark Co., Wis.) - Mr. and Mrs. Bert Wilcox celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary at their home Monday. Out of town guests were Mrs. Wilcox’s brother, John Bigelow of Berrings, S.D., and her brother-in-law and sister, Mr. and Mrs. Fred Hill of Chili.

Mr. and Mrs. Wilcox have been residents of Greenwood since 1917 when they came here from the town of Hendren (Clark Co.). They came to Clark County from Woodstock, Ill., in 1911 and spent the next six years farming near Tioga. Mr. Wilcox was assessor of Hendren at one time.

Bert Wilcox, who was born in McHenry Co., Ill., March 4, 1867, married Hesper Bigelow, also a native of McHenry Co., at Woodstock on Dec. 24, 1885. Mrs. Wilcox was born Oct. 28, 1866.

They have eight children: Mrs. Emil (Maude) Siemer, Elgin, Ill.; Clarence Wilcox, Avoca; Waite Wilcox, Denver, Colo.; James Wilcox, Little Valley, N.Y.; Mrs. Forest (Pearl) Chadwick, Randolph, N.Y.; Clark Wilcox, Highland; Mrs. Floyd (Helen) Christie, Greenwood; and Homer Wilcox, Cattaraugus, N.Y. There are also a number of grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
