Langbecker, Ruth Eloise (June 28, 1917 - January 7, 2005)

Ruth Eloise Langbecker, age 87, died Friday, January 7, 2005 in her sleep after slipping into a coma from a series of heart attacks.

Ruth Eloise Langbecker was born June 28, 1917 to Christine and Edwin Hanchman in Detroit, MI. She was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran Church. She attended school in Michigan through her junior of high school. Along with many others during the depression the family lost their beautiful home in Lincoln Park and moved onto a farm Grandma Hanchman owned outside of Neillsville, Wis. Ruth graduated from Neillsville High.

She married Harold Schnable, now deceased, and gave birth to a daughter Rochelle Ruth. Ruth worked in the county treasurer’s office. Like her mother Christine and two aunts, Emma and Elva, she became a skilled seamstress (under Grandma Schiller), making clothes all things fabric for all ages of her family with professional flare. Her aprons were in demand. After marrying Lorenz Langbecker, the family moved to Coos Bay, OR, where she was a receptionist and bookkeeper for Drs. Dix and Dixon. After Rochelle left home Ruth and Lorenz moved to Wheatridge, CO. She worked for doctors there until she retired.

Ruth liked to crochet, knit, embroider, dabble in ceramics, work jigsaw puzzles, sing in the church choir and read. In her later life she suffered greatly from rheumatoid arthritis which left her hands unusable.

She is survived by her husband Lorenz, of Wheatridge; two sisters, Viola Stanton, of San Diego, CA and Lois (Harold) Ziegler, of Benson, MN; her daughter Rochelle (Darry), of Tigard, OR. She so enjoyed her grandchildren and their families, Jeffrey and Kim (nee Ransom) Bruemmer, of Hanover Park, IL, and their three boys, Weston, Jared and Zachary; Debra (nee Bruemmer) and Karl Rhyme, of West Salem, and their four children, Natalie, Darryl, Brittany, and Devin; and Matthew and Marjorie (nee Smith) Bruemmer, of Tigard, OR, and their children Justin and Jordan. Grandson Michael Jon died in 1996.

Ruth now knows no pain. Her voice clear and strong, praises our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ in her heavenly home. Praise him.
