Abel, Frank & Louisa (Gold - 30 SEP 1947)

Greenwood (Clark Co., Wis.) - Mr. and Mrs. Frank Abel, Sunday afternoon and evening, in observance of their golden wedding anniversary….. The Rev. J.C. Klingeberger of West Side Reformed Church, Greenwood (Clark Co., Wis.), offered prayer at dinner served to 115 relatives and friends of the couple.

Mrs. Abel, the former Louisa Franz, was born Dec. 6, 1876, at Sheboygan. She moved to Greenwood with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. August Franz when she was 6 years of age. Frank Abel was born to Mr. and Mrs. Frank Abel Sr., Jan. 1, 1874 at West Bend. The family moved to Greenwood shortly afterwards.

Mr. and Mrs. Abel were married at the home of the latter’s parents in the Town of Warner, Sept. 30, 1897. The Rev. John Schmalz read the service. Mr. and Mrs. Henry Franz, Greenwood, who attended the couple, were present at the golden wedding observance Sunday. The Abels moved to their present home after their marriage and have lived there ever since. Mr. and Mrs. Abel have five children, all of whom attended the reception. All of their grandchildren except one, Walter Elmer Jr., Milwaukee, were present.

The children and grandchildren who were present for the event included Mr. and Mrs. Carl Laube and children, Kenneth, Lorrain and Janet., Colby; Mr. and Mrs. Otto Abel and children, Harold, Albert, Lloyd, Joan and Yvonne, Greenwood.; Mr. and Mrs. Walter Elmer and daughters, Delores and Shirley, Milwaukee; Mr. and Mrs. Adolph Wendt and children, Gealdine and Carol, and Dennis, Owen, Wis.

The Abels received numerous gifts and congratulatory messages as well as a purse of money.
