Given in marriage by her father Peggy Kitzhaber, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence Kitzhaber, became the bride of Wally Brey, son of Mr. and Mrs. Frank Brey on Wednesday, June 1st, 1949, at 9:00 a.m. at St. Mary’s Catholic Church. Father Novak performed the ceremony at a Nuptial High Mass before the flower banked altar.

The bride was attired in a white satin gown, with sheer yoke and fitted bodice which buttoned to the waistline in back. The yoke was edged with scallops at the hip line and the entrained skirt was edged with scallops. The gown was designed and made by the bride. Her fingertip veil was held in place by a seed pearl headdress.

The bride carried a French bouquet of white carnations and red roses, tied with a white ribbon.

Miss Jo Ann Kitzhaber, maid of honor for her sister, was attired in a turquoise faille gown with fitted bodice sheer beaded yoke, large cape which formed sleeves and a full skirt.

Miss Bernice Brey, sister of the groom, as bridesmaid, was gowned in old rose faille identically styled as the maid of honor.

The maid of honor and the bridesmaid carried colonial bouquets of white mums and yellow carnations, tied with yellow ribbons and wore carnations in their hair.

Danny Brey, brother of the groom, and Bernard Kitzhaber, brother of the bride, were the groom’s attendants.

Dinner and supper were served to over 100 relatives and friends at the home of the bride’s parents.

The bride attended St. Mary’s Catholic Church School and Greenwood High School, graduating with the class of 1948, and for the past one and one-half years has been employed at the Greenwood Co-op.

The groom attended St. John’s Catholic School and Greenwood High School, graduating with the class of 1944. He also attended River Falls Normal for two years.

A dance was held in the evening at Merry Ol’ Gardens.

The young couple spent their honeymoon in northern Wisconsin and are now at home to their friend on the Marie Olson farm east of Greenwood.
