Parent, Jeanette Ruth (June 17, 1933 - December 28, 2006)

Jeanette R. Parent, Age 73, of Thorp passed away Thursday, Dec. 28, 2006 at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Marshfield.

Jeanette Ruth Burrington was born June 17, 1933 in the Town of Butler, rural Thorp, to Pirl and Helen (Morgan) Burrington. She attended grade school at several places including Thorp, Stanley, Willard, and the Butler Country School. She then completed her education at East Grand Forks (Minnesota) High School graduating in 1951. She enrolled in Teachers Training and taught country school in Warren and Perham, Minn. Jeanette was united in marriage to Dewayne Parent on December 25, 1957 in the Town of Butler, rural Thorp. Later, Jeanette and Dewayne lived for several years in Grand Forks, ND and Humbird, WI before moving back to the Town of Butler in 1982 to care for her mother. She has been a resident of Oakbrook Health and Rehab in Thorp for the past 1 ½ years.

Jeanette was a member of the Missionary Baptist Church in Greenwood for many years. The church’s prayer chain was a blessing to Jeanette as her health declined over the past ten years.

She is survived by her husband Dewayne and one son, Steven (Cynthia Moss), both of Thorp; one sister, Jean (Ralph) McIntyre, of Elk Mound; one brother, Fred (Marylou) Burrington, of Thorp; one brother-in-law, Butch (Betty) Parent, of North Dakota; one sister-in-law, Beverly Burrington, of Colfax; nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews, great-great nephews and one great-great niece.

She was preceded in death by her parents; one brother, Reuben Burrington; two sisters, Marjory May Burrington and Betty Jean Burrington; and by two nieces, Jackie Burrington and Rae Lynn Burrington.

Funeral services were held on Tuesday, January 2, 2007 at the Thorp Funeral Home Chapel. Rev. Rob Love officiated. Burial was in the Town of Butler Cemetery, rural Thorp.

Thorp Funeral Home assisted the family with arrangements.
