Anderson, Mattie (15 NOV 1855 - 20 MAY 1937)

Funeral services for Mrs. Mattie Anderson were held at the Longwood Lutheran Church on Sunday. Burial was made in the Lutheran Cemetery, Rev. Auberg officiating at the services. Rev. and Mrs. J.H. Rostad sang several appropriate hymns.

Mattie Faraason was born Nov. 15, 1855, at Lansing, Ia. At the age of 20 she moved with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Jens Faraason to a homestead in South Dakota. In 1881 she was united in marriage to Rasmus Anderson at Sioux Falls, S.D., and together they took up farming near Bookings and Estilline, S.D.

In 1891 they moved to DeSota, where they made their home until 1920, when they moved to Owen (Clark Co., Wis.). The following year they moved to Withee, where they made their home until the death of Mr. Anderson in 1930. Following the death of Mr. Anderson she made her home with her children in this part of the state.

Mrs. Anderson passed away at the home of her son, Roy, at Owen on Thursday of last week after an illness that has kept her in bed for the past three years. She died at the age of 81 years.

Mrs. Anderson leaves to mourn her passing, four sons, Richard, Roy, and Aldon of Owen, and Clarence of Colby; four daughters, Luella (Mrs. G. M. Dorr) of Belmond, Ia., Linnie (Mrs. Joseph Kvanbek) of Minneota, Minn., Nora (Mars. H.C. Johnson) of Belmond, Ia., and Carroll of Houston, Texas. One daughter, Selma, preceded her in death. In addition to these she is survived by 28 grandchildren and 1 great-grandchild.
