Heart Attack Fatal to Leonard Johnson, 62

Leonard 'Hub' Johnson was stricken with a fatal heart attack late Thursday afternoon while doing some minor repair work on the roof of his home. He had had several severe attacks in recent years which required long periods of hospitalization but of late, since his retirement about a year ago, he had been stronger and he and his wife had recently returned home from a long vacation trip to the west coast.

Masonic services with Louis Burhop in charge were conducted at 1:30 o'clock Monday afternoon at the Hoeper and Kraut Funeral Home with interment being made at Riverside cemetery. Serving as pallbearers were Arthur Lysdahl, Chippewa Falls; Melvin Smith, Eau Claire; Ken Anderson, Abbotsford; Lee Jollivette of Greenwood; and Pete Madsen and Clarence Stohkirch, Owen, Wis.

Leonard Erick Johnson, 62, was born August 5, 1904 at Unity and received his education in the school system there. On August 14, 1929 he and the former Marian Meach were united in marriage at Unity and then moved to Colby where they resided until he was transferred to Owen in 1937 as an employee of the Northern States Power Company. He was with the company until his retirement a year ago.

His passing is mourned by his wife; a son Ronald Johnson Norwalk, California; a daughter Mrs. Ronald (Carol Jean) Quelle, Franklin Park, Ill.; four sisters; Mrs. Esther Johnson Portland, Oregon; Mrs. Alma Edblom, Unity; Mrs. Beatrice Henry, Minneapolis, Minn.; and Mrs. Mildred Dallman, Colby and six grandchildren.
