O’Connell, Thomas F. (1889? - 15 AUG 1944)

Thomas F. O’Connell, 55, principal of Benjamin Franklin School at 2308 W. Nash St. collapsed and died of a heart attack Tuesday forenoon, Aug. 15, 1944. He had been principal of the school for 11 years.

After walking from is home, 3135 N. 53rd St., to the home of a teacher at the school, Mr. O’Connell was stricken as he rang the doorbell. He was pronounced dead on arrival at County Emergency Hospital.

Born in Greenwood, (Clark Co.), Wis., Mr. O’Connell was educated at Stevens Point Teachers College, Northland College and the University of Wisconsin. He held the degrees of bachelor and master of philosophy. He came to Milwaukee 15 years ago from Ashland Co., where he was county school superintendent.

He is survived by his wife, Martha, and two sons, Thomas and James of Milwaukee. The body is at the Ritter Chapel, 5310 W. North Av. (Milwaukee Sentinel)

Thomas F. O’Connell was the son of the late Mike O’Connell and Molly Syth O’Connell, former residents of Greenwood and is a nephew of Jack Syth.
