Marvin, Ruth A. (17 JUN 1938)

The Methodist Church in Marshfield was the scene of a beautiful candlelight wedding service Friday evening at seven o’clock when Miss Ruth A. Marvin, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Marvin, Marshfield, and Mr. Norman H. Prior, Loyal, son of Mr. and Mrs. Ray Prior, Loyal, exchanged marriage vows before an altar banked with garden flowers. The Rev. George R. Carver, pastor of the Marshfield Methodist Church was assisted by Rev. R. J. Fleming, pastor of the Loyal Methodist Church in performing the service. Before the entrance of the bridal party Miss Corrine Stewart rendered an organ solo and Mrs. C. J. Dregne sang "O Promise Me."

To the strains of the "Bridal Chorus" by "Lohengrin" the bride approached the altar on the arm of her father. She wore a tailored suit of white with pink chiffon blouse, white felt hat and white shoes. Her arm bouquet was made of white and yellow tea roses and swansonia.

Miss Muriel Prior, sister of the bridegroom attended as bridesmaid and was attired in a suit of white with yellow blouse, a white hat, and wore a shoulder corsage of pink roses and swansonia.

Mr. Prior was attended by Clarence Marvin, Jr., brother of the bride, as best man. Both men were attired in suits of grey.

The mothers of the bridal couple wore white suits with chiffon blouses and shoulder corsages.

A reception and eight o’clock dinner was held in the church parlors where covers were laid for fifty guests.

Lighted candles, garden flowers, and a large wedding cake decorated the bridal table. Waitresses were six of the brides school-mates, Misses Helen Dregne, Elva Grewohl, Anida Stewart, Eileen Eckes, Wilmetta Fink, and Barbara Bodoh.

Among the guests from out of town were Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Marvin and son of St. Cloud, Minn., Mr. Carl Colby, Pittsville; Mr. and Mrs. Ray Prior, Robert Prior, Mr. and Mrs. Calvin Prior, Mr. and Mrs. Edward Giese, Miss Elma Prior, Mr. and Mrs. J. R. Colby, Richard Colby, Virginia Colby, Mr. and Mrs. R. B. Colby, Eugene Colby, Mary Colby, and the Rev. and Mrs. R. J. Fleming, Loyal. Many friends from Loyal also attended the wedding ceremony.

Mr. Prior is a graduate of the Loyal High School, class of 1936.

The bride was honored with several pre-nuptial showers in Marshfield at which she was the recipient of many nice gifts. She also received many lovely wedding gifts.

After a wedding trip to northern Wisconsin and Minnesota, Mr. and Mrs. Prior returned to Loyal where the groom has employment.

To Norman and his bride the Tribune and many other friends extend congratulations and best wishes.
