Constance 'Connie' Boardman

THORP -- Constance "Connie" Theresa Boardman, 83, of Thorp, died Wednesday, Feb. 28, 2007, at Oakbrook Health and Rehabilitation in Thorp.

A memorial service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at St. Bernard-St. Hedwig's Catholic Church in Thorp. Inurnment will take place in New St. Hedwig's Catholic Cemetery at a later date.

Visitation will be from 9:30 a.m. until service time Wednesday at the church.

Thorp Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.

She was born June 22, 1923, in Brisbane, Queensland, Australia, to Cornelius and Olive (Gallagher) O'Connor. She married Melvin "Jack" Boardman on Aug. 22, 1944, at Sacred Heart Church in Brisbane. He died Jan. 17, 1987. Connie and her husband moved to Thorp in 1946 where she raised a family of eight children.

She is survived by seven children, Terry (Jane), Greenville, N.C., John "Bob" (Sheila), De Pere, Dan (Glenna), Rhinelander, Tom, Tokyo, Japan, Ellie (Dean) Swengston, Andover, Minn., Ken (Jeanne), Buffalo, Minn., Gwen "Gigi" Beeley, Tomahawk; eight grandchildren and three great-grandchildren; and her sister, Ellen "Nell" (Bill) Ries, Brisbane, Australia.
