Rux, Ronald R. (21 DEC 1935 - 26 JAN 2007)

Ronald R. Rux, 71, formerly of Spencer, died Friday, Jan. 26, 2007, in Mesa Ariz. Funeral services were held on Friday, Feb. 2, at Trinity Lutheran Church, Spencer. Burial was in Restlawn Memorial Park, Wausau. The Rev. Karl Rose officiated. Pallbearers were Arden Hoffman, Leonard Holz Jr., Allan Balz, Dale Leffel, James Klinger and Jeff Klinger. The Central Wisconsin Concertina Club served as honorary pallbearers.

Ronald Robert Rux was born Dec. 21, 1935, in Wausau, to Alvin and Helen (nee Voight) Rux. He received his education from Hillside Grade School, was a graduate of Wausau East High School, and attended UW-River Falls and UW-Stevens Point. He graduated also from the Milwaukee School of Mortuary Science. He served in the U.S. Army. He married Barbara Kuether on Aug. 5, 1961, at St. Paul’s United Church of Christ, Wausau. He owned and operated Rux Funeral Homes, Spencer and Colby. He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church where he had served on the church council, he was a member of the Spencer Lion’s Club for 37 years, where he held every office including zone chairman, and he was a member of the Central Wisconsin Concertina Club and had been the secretary foe a number of years. In 2005, he was elected to the World Congress Concertina Hall of Fame. He was a director for Big Brothers and Big Sisters, Marshfield. He helped organize the Spencer Area Chamber of Commerce and had served as president. He was active in the Wisconsin Funeral Directors Association both on the local and state levels and had served as a state director for six years.

Survivors include his wife, Barbara Rux, Marshfield and Mesa Ariz.; his daughters, Carrie (Steve) Spira, Ventura, Calif., and Audra (Joshua) Boyd, Phoenix, Ariz.; two grandchildren, Phillip and Taylor Spira; and one brother Frederick (Linnie) Rux, Mobile, Ala.

Preceding him in death were his parents.

Maurina/Community Funeral Home, Spencer, assisted the family with arrangements.
