Pflieger, Dorothy (Marriage - 29 June 1940)

On Saturday, June 92th, Miss Dorothy Pflieger, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Joe Pflieger, became the bride of Mr. Herman Laffe, son of Mr. and Mrs. Louis G. Laffe, at 8:30 a.m., at St. Joseph’s parsonage, in Fairview. The Rev. J. J. Sheridan officiated.

A gown of white satin fashioned on princess lines with a long train was born by the bride. Her cathedral length veil was caught with orange blossoms, and she carried a shower of gardenias. Her only jewel was a pearl necklace, a gift of the groom.

Miss Therese Pflieger, sister of the bride was maid of honor; bridesmaids were Miss Hilda Laffe sister of the groom, and Miss Rosalie Pflieger, another sister of the bride. All were identically gowned in pink dotted Swiss, with pink picture hats trimmed with blue velvet streamers. They wore tiny gold crosses and chains, gifts of the bride. They carried colonial bouquets of pink roses and blue delphiniums.

The groom was attended by Mr. Joseph Pflieger, brother of the bride. Both wore dark blue suits and boutonnieres of white carnations.

The bride’s mother wore a gown of navy blue with white accessories and a corsage of roses and sweet peas. Mrs. Laffe, mother of the groom, wore a blue and white sheer redingote with white accessories and a similar corsage.

A wedding breakfast was served at the home of the bride’s parents. A reception and dance were held in the afternoon and evening.

A brown suit with white accessories was chosen by the bride for her wedding trip to northern Wisconsin. After July 9th the newly wedded couple will be at home in Madison. Both Mr. and Mrs. Laffe are graduates of the local high school, and this happy event is the culmination of a school day romance.

Prenuptial events were a dinner party in her honor, given by her fellow-employees in St. Paul at which time she was presented with a nice gift. The bride guest of honor at a kitchen shower given by Mrs. Wayne Johnson and Mrs. From Kaupla, of St. Paul.
