Cole, Leonard David (28 March 1865 - 15 July 1934)

Leonard David Cole was born at Oak Grove, Dodge County, March 28, 1865, and died July 15, 1934, at his home farm east of Humbird, after a long illness, at the age of 69 years, 3 months and 17 days.

When nine years of age he came to Clark County, residing at Loyal and Christie, coming to Humbird forty-eighty years ago. On April 4, 1888, he was united in marriage to Miss Mina Snyder, and to this union one daughter was born.

He leaves to mourn his passing his wife, and daughter, Mrs. Bernice Bailey; one granddaughter, Joyce Bailey; one brother, James Cole, all of this vicinity; besides other relatives and friends.

Mr. Cole resided on and operated his farm east of town for many years. It was his home, with the exception of a short time spent in Wood County. In 1916 he erected a bungalow in the village, but returned later to the farm. Failing eyesight and health caused his retirement a few years ago. He has been a patient sufferer through the long illness, until death came about five o’clock last Sunday morning.

Funeral services were held at the M. E. Church Tuesday afternoon and were attended by many neighbors and friends. Burial was in Mentor Cemetery; Rev. G. W. Vaughan preached the burial sermon.

Relatives and friends from out of town present at the services were: Mr. and Mrs. Fred Hart, Mondovi; C. E. Bollom and daughter, Neillsville; Mrs. Frank Krejci, Augusta; Mr. and Mrs. Henry Edwards, Mrs. Irving Duxbury, Mr. and Mrs. Willard Cole, Alma Center; Harvey Cole, Sidney Cole, Mr. and Mrs. Chas. Ryder, Osseo; Mr. and Mrs. George Newman, Mrs. L. Ross, Fairchild; Mr. and Mrs. Geo. Begley, Miss Grace Begley, Neillsville; Mr. and Mrs. Henry Johnson, Lindsey.

CARD OF THANKS

The relatives of Leonard D. Cole wish to express their most sincere and heartfelt thanks to all the friends who assisted in every way at the time of their bereavement; also they wish to thank the choir, those who sent flowers, and those who furnished autos.
