Michael Weix Dies At Hospital Friday

Long Time Resident of Town of Hull and City of Colby; Formerly Partner in Meat Market in Colby.

Michael Weix, aged 89 years, died at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Marshfield last Friday morning after having been a patient there for two days. Funeral services were held at St. Mary’s Catholic church in Colby Monday morning, with the Rev. L. J. Lang officiating, and internment was made in the Colby cemetery.

Mr. Weix, the oldest of 14 children, was born on April 3, 1855 in LeRoy, Wis. and came to the Colby vicinity at the age of 23. He was one of Colby’s first settlers and occupied a farm in the town of Hull. On August 9, 1880, he was married to Mary Ohlinger at LeRoy. They made their home on the farm until 1908 when he entered in a partnership with his brother, John, in a meat market for a few years. Since then he had made his home in the city of Colby. Mrs. Weix died on August 19, 1917. Surviving are one son, Rudolph J. Weix of Colby; three brothers, John and Lorenz of Colby and Xavier of Oconomowoc, one sister, Mrs. John Budde of Beaver Dam, and two grandchildren.
