Hirsch, Emelyn Isabell (3 Sept. 1886 - 19 Jul. 1944)

Funeral rites for Mrs. Emelyn Isabell Hirsch, 57, wife of Everett C. Hirsch, city superintendent of schools, were held Saturday morning at the Helke Funeral Home and at 2 o’clock in First Universalist church in Wausau. Mrs. Hirsch died Wednesday of last week in a Wausau hospital. Rev. F. J. Jordan of Eau Claire officiated and burial was made in Colby.

Mrs. Hirsch, the former Emelyn Cook, was born Sept. 3, 1886, in Unity and was married here June 15, 1912. She was a graduate of the Unity, Wis. High school and the Oshkosh State Teachers college and taught in high schools in the state previous to her marriage.

Surviving are her husband; two sons, Major Allan S. Hirsch who is an army field artillery officer whose present whereabouts are unknown and Donald E. Hirsch of Washington, D.C.; three brothers, George S. Cook and Walter Cook of Unity, and Raymond Cook of Marathon; three sisters, Etta Mason of West Allis, Mrs. Edith Tollefson of Solen Springs, Miss Mabel Cook of Chicago, and six grandchildren.

Those from Unity attending the funeral were Mr. and Mrs. G. S. Cook, Mr. and Mrs. Sewell Cook, Mr. and Mrs. Calvin Cook, Walter Cook, Mrs. Bernie Mabbott, Mrs. Russell Andrews, Mrs. Everett Capes, Mr. and Mrs. Andrew Tollefson, Corye Hirsch, Mrs. and Mrs. Herman Vogt, Mr. and Mrs. W. H. McNeight.
