Bernard R. Murphy

Bernard R. Murphy, 71, of Christie, died Thursday, April 12, 2007, at his home after a courageous battle with cancer.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m., Monday, April 16, 2007, at St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church in Neillsville, Wis. Interment will be in the Neillsville City Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. Sunday at the Gesche Funeral Home and at the church Monday from 10 a.m. until service time.

Gesche Funeral Home is assisting Bernard's family with funeral arrangements.

Bernard Ralph Murphy was born Aug. 30, 1935, at the home farm in the town of Weston, the son of Frank and Lucille (Macknick) Murphy. He was married to Rosemary Kurasz on June 20, 1959, in Neillsville, Wis.

He took over the home farm in 1960, and together he and Rosie farmed more than 40 years. During this time, he worked for the DHIA for 10 years. For the last 15 years, Bernard worked for the Neillsville School System.

He is survived by his wife, Rosemary; four children, Larry (Carrie) Murphy of Butternut, David Murphy of Greenwood, Donna (David) Anding of Greenwood and Alan (Jo) Murphy of Butternut; seven grandchildren, six step-grandchildren and one step-greatgrandchild. He is further survived by three sisters, Gertrude Johnson and Frances Ormond, both of Neillsville, and Marjorie Kurasz of DuBois, Wyo.
