VerKilin, George H (1 June 1925 - 13 April 2007)

George VerKilen

George H. VerKilen, 81, of N2954 Catlin Ave., Granton, died Friday, April 13, 2007, in the Emergency Room at Neillsville Memorial Medical Center.

Private family funeral services will be held Tuesday, April 17. The Rev. Charles Stoetzel will officiate. A public visitation will be held Monday from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Rembs/Kundinger Funeral Home.

George was born June 1, 1925, in Marshfield to Thomas and Minnie VerKilen. He attended Marshfield schools. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy serving during World War II from 1943 until his honorable discharge in 1945.

He and Dorothy M. Moore were united in marriage August 6, 1948, in Marshfield. He had been employed at Merkel Electric and K&M Electric in Marshfield, and he had retired from E-Con Electric in Wisconsin Rapids. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, watching the deer and especially spending time with his family.

George is survived by his wife, Dorothy, and 6 children, Thomas (Pat) VerKilen of Tomahawk, Sue (Allan) Feltz of Tomahawk, Martin (Barb) VerKilen of Marshfield, Gary VerKilen of Marshfield, James (Bethany) VerKilen of Granton and Sharon (Terry) Vandeberg of Granton.

He is also survived by 25 grandchildren, Jamie VerKilen, Ayme (Greg) Boushack, Troy Feltz, Justin VerKilen, Ashley VerKilen, Jason VerKilen, Ben VerKilen, Adam VerKilen, Amanda VerKilen, Elicia (Dan) Seliskar, Rachel VerKilen, Olivia VerKilen, Emily VerKilen and Ryan Vandeberg.

He is further survived by 6 great grandchildren, Riley Boushack, Abbey Boushack, Brooklyn Boushack, Colten Liss and Kaleigh and Trevor Seliskar.

He was preceded in death by his parents; 2 sisters, Eva Griebel and Lorna Schreiner; a grandson, Kevin VerKilen; and 2 granddaughters, Tammy Feltz and Heather VerKilen.
