Nelson, Gerald A. #2 (12 AUG 1925 - 20 APR 2007)

Gerald A. Nelson, 81, Marshfield died on Friday, April 20,2007, at the Marshfield Center under the care of Ministry Home Care Services. Funeral services were held on Monday, April 23, at Christ Lutheran Church, Chili. The Rev. John Trewyn officiated. Entombment was at the Hillside Mausoleum with Everett Roehl, Kenneth Roehl, Lowell Roehl, Erlin Roehl, Raymond Roehl, Lavern Roehl, Ruben Vanderhoof, Jr. serving as pallbearers.

Gerald A. Nelson was born Aug. 12, 1925, in the town of Spencer, to Ed Sr. and Viola (nee Bodendorfer) Nelson and attended area schools. On May 22, 1948, he married Lila Roehl at Christ Lutheran Church, Chili. They farmed for two years in the Veefkind area and 13 years in the Chili area. They moved to Spencer in 1963 where he was manager of the United Building Center for 16 years. He then worked 12 years in the housekeeping department at St. Joseph’s Hospital, retiring in 1991. The couple moved to Marshfield in 2005. He was a member of Christ Lutheran Church, Chili. He enjoyed antique cars, country music, camping, playing cards, and making wood crafts.

He is lovingly survived by his wife, Lila, of 58 years; three sisters, Ruby (Alvin) Heckel, Marshfield, Nila (Archie) Vanderhoof, Arpin, and Carol Harriman, Marshfield; sisters-in-law, Marion Nelson, Spencer, Naomi Roehl, Marshfield, and Evelyn Roehl, Marshfield; brothers-in-law, Walter Roehl, Granton, Harvey Roehl, Neillsville, Carl (Delma) Roehl, Chili, and Leo (Verna) Roehl, Chili; and several nieces and nephews.

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by one sister, Audrey Kampin, and a brother, Ed Nelson Jr.
