Miss Eleanor Altenberger

Funeral services for Miss Eleanor Altenberger, 54, a resident of Sheboygan for the past 10 years, were held Wednesday, May 10, at St. Mary’s Church in Colby, Wis.

The Rev. N. B. Beschta, pastor, was the celebrant of the requiem high mass. Burial was made on the Altenberger family lot in the Colby cemetery.

Miss Altenberger, who made her home with a sister, Miss Pauline Altenberger, at 1318 Superior Avenue since 1940, died Sunday, May 7, at St. Nicolas Hospital after a lingering illness.

She was born Dec. 25, 1895, at Colby, the daughter of Joseph and Clara Altenberger, attended the public schools and graduated from Colby, Wis. High School and Stevens Point Teachers College.

After teaching school in Clark County, Miss Altenberger was employed as a clerk in a Stevens Point department store for many years. Since coming to Sheboygan, she had been employed as a clerk at Hill’s Brothers and Alfred Jung Company stores.
