Ella Marie Heiman was born April 29, 1925, in Thorp to Andrew C. and Edith (Benzschawel) Heiman. She received her elementary education at area schools and graduated in 1944 from Thorp High School. She was united in marriage to Allen L. Hubbard on Aug. 20, 1946, at St. Bernard's Catholic in Thorp.

Ella and Allen farmed in the Boyd area for a few years before moving to Thorp, where they farmed until retiring in 1980. After leaving the farm, they built a new home in Lombard Grove, rural Thorp, and resided there until Allen's death on June 30, 1988. Ella later moved to her home on Fisher Avenue, where she resided until entering Oakbrook Health and Rehabilitation in November 2006.

She was a member of St. Bernard-St. Hedwig's Catholic Church and its Parish Council of Catholic Women and was also a member of the Friendly Neighbors Homemakers Club. Ella had many friends in the Mennonite Community and one of her joys was the friendships she made while assisting them with transportation.

She is survived by her 12 children, Earl Hubbard, John (Joy) Hubbard, Royce (Karla) Hubbard, all of Thorp, William Hubbard of Stanley, Neil Hubbard of Fairchild, Ivan (Candace) Hubbard of Owen, Robert (Carol) Hubbard of Withee, Roger Hubbard of Black River Falls, Donna (Joe) Soborowicz of Montverde, Fla., Sandy (Ken) Engel of Owen, Bonnie Ross of Las Vegas, Nev., and Barb (Dale) Schulz of Edgar; 42 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren; two brothers, Elmer Heiman of Thorp and Leonard Heiman of Milwaukee; her sister, Lenore Giwojna of Thorp; and many nieces, nephews and friends.

Ella was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Allen; four grandchildren, Karen, Brent, Kevin and Daniel; one great-granddaughter, Julianna; one daughter-in-law, Nancy Hubbard; and one brother, Raymond Heiman.
