Tesmer, Fredericka (18 Apr. 1862 - 21 June 1931)

Mrs. Fredericka Tesmer, nee Schultz, died at the home of her son, John, early Saturday morning after a short illness, at the age of 69 years, two months and one day. She was the mother of eight children, five sons and three daughters. Those surviving her are John of Colby, Mrs. John Leonhardt of Medford, William of Colby, August of Spencer, Mrs. John Wolf of Colby, Mrs. Ed. Smith of Marshfield and Louis of Platteville, twenty-five grand-children and five great grand-children, three brothers, William of Plymouth, August of Colby and Charles of Milwaukee.

Mrs. Tesmer, daughter of Wm. and Wilhelmina Schultz, was born April 18, 1862, in Prussia, Germany. She came to America with her parents in 1872, and settled in Sheboygan county. In the year 1879 they came to Colby. In 1880, she was married to Wm. Tesmer who preceded her in death eight years ago. One son, Henry, died twenty-three years ago.

Funeral services were held at the Colby M. E. Church Tuesday afternoon, Rev. F. M. Blish officiating, and internment was made in the Colby cemetery. Grandsons acted as pallbearers and were John and Henry Leonhardt, Woodrow Tesmer, Pat Smith, Paul Rudolph and John Schuster. Grand daughters acted as flower girls and were Martha and Evelyn Leonhardt, Mrs. John Schuster, LaVerne Tesmer, Imogene Smith and Sylvia Tesmer.

Those from out of town here for the funeral were Mrs. Minnie Tesmer, Mrs. Al Fraser and daughter, Marie, Mrs. Otto Detjens and daughter, Mrs. Hegg, of Phillips; Mrs. Minnie Risch, Mrs. Paul Kolander and daughter, Hazel, Mr. and Mrs. Herman De Buhr, daughter Bernice, and son LaVere, Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Risch and son Billy, of Milwaukee; Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Schultz of Cornell; Mr. and Mrs. John Leonhardt, Jr., of Stratford; Mr. and Mrs. John Leonhardt, Sr., son Walter, and daughter, Evelyn, of Medford; Mr. and Mrs. Henry Leonhardt of Medford; Mr. and Mrs. Paul Rudolph of Medford; Martha Leonhardt of Park Falls; Mr. and Mrs. Ed. Smith and children of Marshfield; Mr. and Mrs. John Schuster of Shawano; Mr. and Mrs. August Tesmer and daughter, Sylvia, of Spencer; Mr. and Mrs. Louis Tesmer of Platteville; Mr. Joseph Wolf, Mrs. Madalyn Seymour, Mrs. Margaret Klein and daughter, Vernon, of Marshfield.

The deceased had always been a good Christian and had no thought that was not a gentle one. Well may her children cherish her memory as a precious legacy.
