Shelley, George B. (1878? - 1937)

SUDDEN DEATH George B. Shelley, of the town of Unity, died suddenly at his home west of Unity, at 8:10 Wednesday morning, July 28, aged 59 years.

Unofficial reports say he must have fallen on the floor as he lived but five minutes after being found. A stroke is the probable cause of his sudden death.

He had been working at the Riplinger box factory the past three months coming here from Rib Lake. He worked at the factory on Tuesday of this week, the day before his death and had been bothered some with his heart. He was a former resident of the town of Unity, in which he was born on Septemeber 28, 1878. He leaves a wife and ten children, and one brother, Herbert, at Owen, Wis. He was married in Perkinstown on June 11, 1900. The children left are: Mrs. John Neuman, Spencer; Mrs. Olive McCarty, Milwaukee; Wm. Shelley, Riplinger; Herbert, Spencer; Leon, Edgar; Mrs. Mildred Gripentrog, Marshfield; Leslie, Sawyer, Wis.; Dwight, Wisconsin Rapids; and Lyle and Geraldine, at home.

Funeral services will be held at the Unity M.E. Church on Saturday July 31, at 2 P.M., Rev. Paul Nulton officiating with interment in the Brighton Cemetery.

Researcher's Notes - Year of death was 1937 and another son, Sidney Delbert died as an infant in Rapid City, South Dakota. George's wife was Violet Rogers Shelley. The cemetery is Unity Township Cemetery.
