Graumann, Rosa (4 July 1880 - 21 Apr. 1934)

Mrs. William Graumann, nee Kliefoth, of the town of Hull, near Cherokee, died at the St. Joseph’s hospital at Marshfield Saturday morning at 9:00 o’clock where she had been a patient for two weeks following an operation for appendicitis which was followed by preliminary embolism. She intended to come home the same day. Funeral services were held at the family home near Cherokee Tuesday afternoon at one o’clock and at the Colby Methodist church at two o’clock, Rev. C. Paul Nulton officiating, and internment was made in the Colby cemetery. The pall bearers were Anton Van Dreel, Wenzel Sazama, Ewald Wiersig, Carl Reyer, George Rein, Herman Behrens. The flower girls were Dorothy Olson, Fern Kramer, Louise Fricke and Bernice Behrens.

The deceased was born near Mayville, in Dodge county, July 4, 1880, thus reaching the age of fifty-three years, seven months, seventeen days. She came to Colby with her brother, William Kliefoth, now of Milwaukee, in 1903. On April 28, 1903, she was married at Colby to William Graumann, since which time they have resided on a farm east of Colby. Surviving are the widower, seven children, Mrs. George Carr of the town of Hull, Mrs. Maynard Schwantes of Nichols, Mrs. Arthur Schmidt of Marshfield, and Arthur, Edwin, Hildegard and Verna, at home, one grand child, Henry Arthur Carr, and the following brothers and sisters: Susan of Wausau, William of Milwaukee, Henry of Manitowoc, Minnie of Brownsville, Ernest of Knowles, Alma of Mayville, George of Knowles, Arthur of Waupun. Two brothers preceded their sister in death.

The deceased was of a congenial, helpful disposition and had many friends who testify to her Christian character. She was devoted to her family and her kindness to everybody will linger long as a fragrant memory in the home which her presence brightened and which death has now darkened. The many and beautiful floral offerings testify to the esteem and respect in which she was held.

The out of town people here for the funeral were Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Kliefoth and two daughters of Knowles, Mrs. Alma Franke of Mayville, Mr. and Mrs. Herman Franke and two daughters of Brownsville, Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Hoffman, Mr. Hubert Hoffman and Mrs. Leonard Ronck of Wausau, Mr. and Mrs. Fred Laessig and George and Miss Nina of Stratford, Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Viegut and August Viegut of Fenwood, Mr. and Mrs. John Schmitt, Miss Linda Schmitt, Mrs. Reinhold Stahnke and Mrs. Nora Widman of Marshfield.
