Atkins, Harvey James (15 Feb. 1907 - 3 May 1935)

Harvey James Atkins, son of Mr. and Mrs. John Atkins, died at the home of his parents Friday, May 3, after an illness of six days, pneumonia being the cause of his departure. Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon at the Colby M. E. church, Rev. C. Paul Nulton officiating, and internment was made in the Colby cemetery. The pall bearers were Harry Brown, Norbert Schommer, Harold Schommer, Dale Reis, Alfred Swoboda. The flower girls were Dorothy Brown, Virginia Schorer, June Henkel and Anita Henkel.

The deceased was born at Black River Falls Friday, Feb. 15, 1907, thus reaching the age of twenty-eight years, three months and seven days. He moved to Colby with his parents, one sister, Mrs. Hilton Rusch of Stratford and two brothers, Clarence Arkins of Glasgow, Montana, and Harold Atkins, at home.

Out of town people here for the funeral services were Mr. and Mrs. Richard Mann and children, Vernon and Stella, of Sparta, Mrs. Ingwald Bakken and children, Russel and Dorothy, of St. Paul, Minn., Mr. and Mrs. Sam Asperheim and children, Elwin, Ross and Frankie, Mr. Baxter Marvin and Mrs. Habel Britton, all of Duluth, Minn., Mr. and Mrs. Carl Christenson and daughter, Alfredia and Mr. and Mrs. Ward Watterman of Black River Falls, Mr. W. S. Marvin and family, Lottie, William and Henry, of Greenwood, Wis., Mr. and Mrs. Alfred Marvin and children, Alfred and Kenneth.

His death has brought the bitter cup of sorrow to the lips of his relatives and friends for he was a young man who always endeavored to perform his duties as he saw them. He had excellent habits, a congenial disposition and had a fine moral character.
