Brothers, Mamie (Marriage - 20 Sept. 1887)

The marriage of Mr. Geo. A. Ure, to Miss Mamie Brothers took place at the residence of the bride’s parents, Rev. and Mrs. J. D. Brothers, Eau Claire, on the afternoon of September 20th. The Eau Claire Free Press speaks as follows of the ceremony –

"At 3:30 o’clock Tuesday afternoon, Geo. A. Ure, associated proprietor of the Neillsville Times, and Miss Mamie Brothers were united in marriage at the home of the bride’s parents, Rev. and Mrs. J. D. Brothers. Nearly a hundred friends of the contracting parties were present at the wedding, and the bride was the recipient of many and valuable tokens of regard. Mr. and Mrs. Ure departed on the 6:30 train in the evening for their home in Neillsville, Wis. The marriage ceremony was performed by the bride’s father, and the young people carry with them to their new home the benedictions of a wide circle of friends."

The happy couple arrive here on the 9:10 train the evening of that day. A surprise awaited the newly wedded pair on their arrival. A large party of young friends had gained access to the home and contributed many presents to the bride and groom. The following is a list of the some:

Fruit dish - Carrie and Lulu Mansur.

Stand - Di??ple French.

Tea Set - Ralph Lindsay.

Fruit dish - Chas. Kemmett.

Set Silver spoons - B. F. French.

Berry dish - Vinnie Jones.

Butter dish - Eva White.

Comfort roll - Viola French.

Mantel Lambrequin - Cora Corssett.

Water pitcher and vinegar cruet - *Rest cut off.
