Staniec, Helen Catherine (February 22, 1913 - July 30-2007)

Helen C. Staniec, age 94, of Thorp, passed away on Monday, July 30, 2007 at Oakbrook Health and Rehab in Thorp.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, August 3, 2007 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Mary’s Polish National Catholic Church in Lublin. Burial will follow in the parish cemetery.

Visitation will be held at the Thorp Funeral Home on Friday, August 3, 2007 from 9:00 a.m. until 10:00 a.m.

Helen C. Staniec, age 94, of Thorp, died at Oakbrook Health and Rehab, in Thorp, on Monday, July 30, 2007.

Funeral services were held at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, August 3, 2007 at St. Mary’s Polish National Catholic Church in Lublin. Fr. Marion Talaga officiated and burial followed in the parish cemetery.

Pallbearers were: Chris Staniec, Chad Staniec, Jason Dallas, Ryan Dallas, Lance Griffin, and Terry Wiles.

Visitation was held at the Thorp Funeral Home on Friday, August 3, 2007 from 9:00 a.m. until 10:00 a.m.

Helen Catherine Jarocki was born on February 22, 1913, in the Town of Withee to Andrew and Philomena (Zawacki) Jarocki, where she was raised and received her education. Helen was united in marriage to Walter Staniec on October 2, 1935 at St. Mary’s Polish National Catholic Church in Lublin. They raised their family and farmed in the Town of Withee until retiring in 1973. They sold the farm and moved into Thorp. Her husband, Walter died on October 26, 1990. Helen resided in Thorp until entering the nursing home in May of 2007.

She was a member of St. Mary’s Polish National Catholic Church and had many interests, but especially loved spending time with her family, sewing, making Afghans, crocheting, gardening, and music.

She will be sadly missed by her three children: Marianne (Jerry) Wiles of Watertown, SD, Betty (Jim) Dallas of Thorp, and Walter, Jr. (Mary Ann) Staniec of Ham Lake, MN; eleven grandchildren; thirteen great-grandchildren; and one sister, Frances (Frank) Soper of Withee.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Walter, Sr.; and two brothers: Peter and Edward Jarocki.
