Rose, Joanne Marlene (June 19, 1950 - August 1, 2007)

On August 1, 2007, Joanne Marlene (Blume) Rose, 57, of Lublin, ended a short battle with cancer with her family at her bedside.

Joanne Blume was born on June 19, 1950 to Henry and Inez Blume. Joanne married Patrick Rose on December 1, 1972. Joanne gave birth to one child, daughter Kathryn, in 1974.

Joanne worked at the Weathershield Window Company in Medford for 30 years before retiring to work full-time on the Gilman Ambulance as an Emergency Medical Technician.

Joanne will be remembered for her dedication to helping others. She was a member of the Lublin volunteer Fire Department for many years, spending countless hours on paperwork and fire department events. She was a Lublin First Responder and EMT on the Gilman Ambulance. Joanne loved her work and felt that helping people was her duty, not a choice. She only gave up her work when she became too sick to perform her duties.

Joanne enjoyed gardening, reading, knitting, sewing, and spending time with her family.

Joanne was preceded in death by her parents, Henry and Inez Blume.

Joanne will be missed by her surviving family: husband, Patrick, of Lublin, with whom she looked forward to celebrating 35 years of marriage this December; daughter, Kathryn (Allan) Larson of Wisconsin Rapids; two grandchildren: Anastasia Larson, who will miss gardening with Grandma and Gabriel Larson, who will know this amazing Grandma through pictures and stories; brother, Vince (Lynn) Blume of Owen; brother, Denny (Joann) Blume of Vail, Arizona; and many other family, friends and co-workers.

Preparations were handled by Higgins Funeral Home. A memorial service was held on Tuesday, August 7, 2007 at 4:30 p.m. at the Maplehurst Town Hall with Fr. Thaddeus Wojcik officiating. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been set up at the People’s Choice Credit Union, Medford.
