Thompson, Ole #2 (7 Sept. 1850 - 13 Mar. 1936)

Ole Thompson, one of the first settlers of the town of Hoard, Clark county, died Friday at the home of his son Arthur, at the age of eighty-five years after being ill ten days. Funeral services were conducted on Tuesday afternoon at the Norwegian Lutheran church, Rev. W. L. Anderson officiating, and internment was made in the church cemetery.

The deceased was born in Norway Sept. 7th, 1850, and came to the United States on May 17, 1871. A year later he began farming in the town of Hoard, homesteading eighty acres which was still a wilderness. He married Miss Anne Brandum in 1878. He was president of the Curtiss State Bank for many years, at one time town assessor and was a member of the school board.

Surviving are five daughters, Mrs. Frank Matthias and Mrs. Edwin Peterson, Curtiss; Mrs. J. E. Simpson, Sturgeon Bay; Mrs. Ida Peterson, Monroe, Wash.; Miss Thea Thompson, Beloit; three sons, Oscar, Los Angeles, Calif., Theodore and Arthur, town of Hoard; and one sister, Mrs. Thea Hanson, Sparta. There are 13 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren.

A son, Lieut. Carl Thompson, lost his life in France during the World war, on August 6th, 1918.
