Schneider, George (19 Sept. 1880 - 27 Jan. 1938)

Funeral services were conducted Sunday afternoon at 1:30 p.m. at the home and at 2:00 p.m. at St. John’s Evangelical church in Colby for George Schneider, age 57 years, who passed away Thursday morning at 9:30 at his home in the town of Hull after an illness of several months. Rev. S. A. Schmiechen officiated and burial was made in the Colby cemetery. Pall bearers were Nick Kanter, Gust Brehm, Peter Gries, William Schorer, Charles Huhn and Henry Ortmeier. Flower bearers were the Misses Minnie Buss, Lois Huhn, Marjorie Gries and Myrtle Schorer.

Besides his widow, he is survived by five sons and three daughters - George and Herman of Colby, Robert of Curtiss, Alfred and Frederick, at home, Mrs. Harold Glenzer of the town of Colby, Mrs. Alfred Hertel of Sheboygan, Mrs. Alvin Schumann of Abbotsford, Wis. Also a brother, Paul Schneider of California, a sister, Mrs. Paul Rucks of the town of Hull and five grand children.

Mr. Schneider was born in Dodge county on September 19, 1880, and was married at Morgan, Oconto county, on Oct. 13, 1903, to Miss Emma Wellnitz. They lived on a farm in that community until Mr. Schneider’s father, Jacob Schneider, died. Then they moved to Colby and took over his farm.

He lived in this community since 1912 and those who knew him liked him for he was a good friend and neighbor and will be greatly missed by everyone.
