Senkbeil, Lorraine (Marriage - 10 Sept. 1938)

A very pretty wedding took place at the Zion Lutheran church Saturday, Sept. 10th, at 2:30 P.M., Rev. O. Hoffmann officiating, when Miss Lorraine Senkbeil, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Henry Senkbeil of Colby, became the bride of Mr. Roy Wollert, only son of Mr. and Mrs. Gust Wollert of Sheboygan. The church was decorated with beautiful gladiolas. The bride, given away by her father, wore a gown of white brocated transparent velvet with a long train. Her long noke bonnet veil was lace edged in heart design. She carried a bouquet of calla lilies and swansonias. The maid of honor, Miss Virginia Wollert, only sister of the groom, wore a royal blue transparent velvet dress with a royal blue shoulder length veil fastened to the head with a silver band. She wore silver sandals to match and carried roses and pompoms in an arm bouquet. The bridesmaids, Miss Irene Dix and Gladys Olson, appeared in royal blue transparent velvet with royal blue shoulder length veils held in place with a silver band. They wore silver sandals to match and their arm bouquets consisted of roses and pompoms. The flower girl, little Doris Stratte, wore a white transparent velvet floor length frock with a white shoulder length veil held in place with a band of white flowers. She wore white slippers and carried a basket of colosual floweres. A white gilly was carried by the ring bearer, little Billy Wiedenhodft, who was clad in a black satin tuxedo swallow tail coat and white satin long pants. Art Siebert of Sheboygan acted as the groom’s best man and Billy Plutte of Milwaukee and Billy Frome of Colby were the ushers.

A five o’clock dinner was served at St. John’s parish hall, covers being laid for 150 guests. The young couple left on a honeymoon to the northern part of the state and will stay at the cottage of a friend at Ellison Bay for a week. They will be at home in Colby about the 23rd of September. Mr. Wollert will be assistant baker at the city bakery.

Out of town guests present were Mr. and Mrs. Gust Wollert and daughter, Virginia, Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Arndt, Mr. and Mrs. Melvin Arndt, Donald and Marrilan May, Mr. and Mrs. Gust Senkbeil, Mr. and ***Note: The rest of the article was cut off and not available at the time of transcription.
