Boyer, Lester H.(25 Jan. 1918 - 6 Jan. 2006)

Lester H. Boyer, 87, of Dallas City, Ill., died at 6 a.m. Friday, Jan. 6, 2006, at the Gilpin Home in Dallas City.

Born Jan. 25, 1918, in Unity, Wis., he was the son of William M. and Fannie Josephson Boyer. On July 22, 1969, he married Mary Hutson. She died Nov. 9, 2004.

Mr. Boyer farmed in Wisconsin earlier in his life and worked for the railroad. After moving to Illinois he worked for J.I. Case in Burlington for many years, retiring in 1984. He was a graduate of the Unity, Wis. High School. He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Unity. He was a World War II Army veteran, serving from July 1941 to October 1945. Survivors include one sister, Lila O'Brien of Spencer, Wis.; one brother, Harold Boyer of Unity; and several nieces and nephews.

Besides his wife, he was preceded in death by his parents, one sister and one brother. The graveside service with military rites for Mr. Boyer was at 1 p.m. Monday in Harris Cemetery near Dallas City, with the Rev. Jim Luder officiating. A memorial service will be at Trinity Lutheran Church in Unity in March. Banks and Beals Funeral Home in Dallas City is in charge of local arrangements.
