Awe, Emma (30 Apr. 1862 - 21 Sept. 1939)

Funeral services were held Monday afternoon for Mrs. Emma Awe, who died at the home of her son in law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Charles Schulte, Thursday evening at 9:30 o’clock at the age of 74 years, heart trouble and old age being the cause of her death. A service was held at the home at 1:30 o’clock and at St. Paul’s Lutheran church at Green Grove at 2:00 o’clock, Rev. M. C. Goetsch officiating, and internment was made in the parish cemetery. She had been an invalid in a wheel chair for 23 years and sick for two weeks. She made her home with her daughter, Mrs. Charles Schulte, for the last 15 years. Pall bearers at the funeral were all grandsons - Myon Schulte, Rueben Schulte, Rodger Domer, James Boehnlein, Gordon Domer and Walter Fink. Grand daughters acted as flower girls and were Virginia Awe, Margaret Schulte, BonnaBell Awe, AnnaBell Schulte, Lucille Tewksberry, Alma Scheel.

The deceased, whose maiden name was Emma Bormann, was born on April 30th, 1862, in Eaton, Manitowoc county, and she was married in Calumet county to Fred Awe on October 25th, 1879, at New Holstein, Wisconsin. A year later, the couple came to Clark county and engaged in farming near Longwood. Mr. Awe died 33 years ago. One daughter, Mrs. Mary Schroeder, also preceded her in death.

Surviving children are Mrs. Chas. Schulte of Colby, Mrs. Art Schulte of Marathon, Herman Awe of Owen, John Awe of Withee, Mrs. Walter Domer of Eau Claire, Mrs. Ben Boehnlein of New Holstein and Anna Awe of Eau Claire. There are also twenty grand children and six great grand children. Also one sister, Mrs. John Awe, and one brother, Fred Borman, of New Holstein.

The deceased was a kind, hardworking mother of the pioneer type, a good Christian and always performed her duties as she saw them.

Schulte and daughters of Marathon, Mr. and Mrs. James Wilkins of Chicago, Mr. and Mrs, Vernon Dahl of Cumberland, Mr. and Mrs. Myron Schulte of Ladysmith, Mr. and Mrs. T. Kippenhan of Greenwood, Mr. and Mrs. Burmeister of Longwood, Mr. and Mrs. Walter Domer and sons of Eau Claire, Mr. and Mrs. Roy Tewksberry of Wausau, Mr. and Mrs. John Awe and daughter of Withee, Mr. and Mrs. N. Boehnlein of Marytown, Wis., Mr. and Mrs. Owens of Loyal, Mr. and Mrs. Herman Awe and daughters, Arthur and Lydia Awe, Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Awe and sons, Mr. and Mrs. Frank Schroeder, Mr. and Mrs. M. Rassmussen, Mr. and Mrs. Ed. Awe, Mr. and Mrs. Henry Awe, Mrs. Fred Awe and sons, Mr. and Mrs. Uno Kolpman, Mr. and Mrs. Norman Behringer and Mr. and Mrs. Art Sheels and son, all of Owen, Wis.
