Greene, James Thomas (25 Dec. 1928 - 1 Jan. 2004)

DODGEVILLE - James Thomas Greene, age 75, of Dodgeville died unexpectedly on Thursday, Jan. 1, 2004. Jim was born on Dec. 25, 1928, in Chili, Wis., to Russell and Elma (Hakes) Greene. He married the former Alice Raasch of Wisconsin Rapids on May 28, 1955. They lived in Sycamore, Ill., until moving to Dodgeville in 1959. Jim drove truck for H & S Transfer before taking up construction. He worked with Daniels Construction and then Hammersley Construction in Madison for more than 30 years before retiring in 1994. In 1995, he again took up truck driving with J J Transfer of Mequon and drove for them until his death. Jim was also active in farming his entire life. Jim was a loving husband, father, grandfather and friend who had a tremendous work ethic and trusted Jesus Christ as his Personal Lord and Savior and faithfully attended Faith Fellowship Church. He was a member of the Iowa County Teamsters & Riders and Construction and General Laborers Union Local 464.

Jim is survived by his wife, Alice of Dodgeville; seven children, Blane Greene of Lone Rock and special friend, Jana Bourret, Samantha (Jim) U'Ren of Dodgeville, Glenn (Karen) Greene of Spring Green, Robin (Dan) Rothwell of Dane, Jill (Dan) Faull of Linden, Quintin (Lori) Greene of Spring Green, and April (Frederic) Wiese of Hastings, Minn.; 21 grandchildren, Tara, Rex, Roy, Ric and Logan U'Ren, Brittney and Amber Fargen, Faith Greene, Derrick, Drew and Rachel Rothwell, Tabatha and Kyle Faull, Madalene, Russell, Olivia, Tristin and Josiah Greene and Alexander, Zachary and Nathaniel Wiese; a sister, Jeane (Paul) McVay of Manhattan Beach, Calif.; a brother, Wayne Greene of Waupaca; as well as other relatives and many friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Charles H. and Jerry Greene; and four sisters, Gladys Greene, Elaine Welter, Helen Lengas and Mary Thompson.

Memorial services will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 6, 2004, at Faith Fellowship Church in Dodgeville. Pastor Douglas Weaver and the Rev. James McMahan will co-officiate with inurnment in East Side Cemetery. Friends may call from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. Monday, Jan. 5, 2004, at the Lulloff-Peterson-Houck Funeral Home, Dodgeville and at the church on Tuesday after noon.
